If there’s one occasion I can get behind after birthdays and Easter it’s Mothers Day, even before I became a mum myself this day has long been a fave and I hold dear many memories of making my mum breakfast in bed when I was younger complete with a handmade menu listing the courses available (usually toast and cereal, I knew how to push the boat out) and a single flower in a vase. Today Mothers Day looks a little bit fancier as I tend to go overboard treating my mum to a nice lunch and a gift or three because I know just how much mums deserve to be rewarded, it’s not as easy as it looks! With gifting in mind I thought I’d do a round up of lovely items I found that are all perfect for Mums, especially if you haven’t a clue where to start plus they’re all under £50 so you don’t need to break the bank.
Jo Malone screams special occasion to me and it’s one of those brands that never disappoints with their luxe packaging and award worthy products. I’ve been hearing lots about the new lip balm and unlike most Jo Malone products it isn’t going to put you out of pocket plus isn’t ginger and mint the most delicious scent combination you’ve ever heard of?
Merci Maman is a brand I forever gravitate towards, I love their well priced thoughtful jewellery and this bangle is no exception – add that personalise touch with engraving and you’re surely going to be the favourite child this Mothers Day.
Mugs are one of those items I cannot get enough of (along with stationery) so it’ll come as no surprise that this awesome people club mug, just try and say that fast is on my radar. It may have a distinct Valentines vibe but I’ve no doubt your mum would feel the love when they drink their favourite drink from this hot pink number.
Now if you’re truly sick of Winter and are longing for Spring Mango is one site to check out and while Zara may be seen as the Spanish saviour when it comes to fashion there’s just something incredibly luxe yet wearable about Mangos offering. I absolutely adore this polka dot shirt with the slight nod to the pyjama trend and think it’d put a spring in any mums step.
While I appreciate artwork is an incredibly personal choice how beautiful is this abstract print from independent Mauds House? If this wouldn’t fit perfectly with your mums living room but you fancy treating her to some seriously well curated homeware then check them out pronto.
Pyjamas along with slippers have a predictable rep when it comes to buying for Mums but when they’re from cool indies or so luxe you’d be tempted to go out in them, you know you’re onto a winner. I adore these Savannah Miller for Debenhams striped pyjamas (they also have a huge Mothers Day gifting page) and these sheepskin slippers from cool and authentic brand Sheepers would make the perfect gifting pair.
Of course I couldn’t compile a gift guide without including something from my favourite beauty brand Neom, their products smell divine, are completely natural and really do the job they set out to do. Mums are notoriously lacking in sleep so I couldn’t recommend this kit enough as it includes everything you need for that elusive good nights sleep.
Last but by no means least is one of my favourite gifts to give and receive and that’s a bunch of hand tied flowers, preferably from a local florist as I’m all about supporting independents. If you live in my hometown of Sheffield I can’t recommend these florists enough for their dreamy blooms – Of The Wild, Petalis who created my spectacular wedding flowers and Swallows & Damsons.
Are you a big Mothers Day lover? What will you be buying for your mum?
