After a bit of a blogging hiatus – let’s just say selling and buying a new house (eeeee!) takes more than its fair share of your spare time I thought it was only fitting that I came back with a post that packed a serious fashion punch so here is not one, not two but three outfits showing you a few of my latest buys and some seriously Summer worthy shoes that guarantee to update your look.
If you follow me on Twitter you’ll know I’ve been itching to own a pair of white jeans for Summer (yes I do have a toddler – I must be crazy) and after trying on numerous, soul destroying pairs I finally met my perfect match in Cos, who for the record have a lot of swoon-worthy pieces in store right now. I’ve got so many ideas of how I’ll style these straight legged babies for Summer but I decided to keep things simple here with a striped tee and a pair of espadrilles. When I think of Summer dressing nothing screams scorchio like a pair of espadrilles and I adore how they give a laid back, cool girl look to any outfit they’re paired with. I’ve had a Zara pair for ages so these from EGO feel like a real upgrade, not only are they incredibly comfortable (which I honestly was expecting for the price) but they’re rose gold! I can’t wait to wear these with denim cut offs on our holiday.
What a difference a bright lip makes hey? I genuinely can’t remember the last time I didn’t reach for a nude so thank you Sadie for hiding all my Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks as it’s forced me to reach for Nars Red Square, a shade I have well and truly neglected but one that felt incredibly fitting for this outfit. Pink and red colour clashing is all over my favourite blogs right now so of course I wanted to get in on the action, the bright red jacket was something I spotted on Lizzy so of course I snapped it up when I was in Manchester while the slogan tee was an item I instagrammed then wish I’d bought so of course the inevitable happened. As I’ve kept things pretty bright on top I decided these blush coloured sliders would bring that hint of pink as well as a much needed tough element because a white lace skirt is pretty girly. If a pair of a gladiators and a pair of sliders decided to get it on then I’m pretty sure they’d make these sandals. This is my first Ego buying experience and I must say I’m bowled over by the quality of these Hazel sliders in particular, they feel like something I’d pick up in Topshop but are half the price. There’s already a space reserved in my suitcase for these sliders as I think they’ll be perfect for poolside lounging with a scalloped vest and pair of pom pom embroidered shorts.
Speaking of pom poms it’s time to give a warm welcome to my barely tanned legs and Marmite like lace up pom pom sandals. If you’re a regular around these parts you’ll know I’m a champion of buying less and buying better, that said I think fashion should be fun (which is why I think I’ve always struggled with a traditional capsule wardrobe) so a trend led purchase here and there is more than ok! For me this is exactly where brands like Ego come into their own – I’ll be the first to admit I won’t be wearing these sandals a ton as who on Earth has the time to keep lacing them up their legs every two minutes but they’ve got multicoloured pom poms on them and they didn’t half make me smile when I opened them and that’s got to stand for something right? With that in mind I’m terming these sandals the fun pair and I suggest you have a joy bringing pair of shoes in your wardrobe this Summer too. To try and show these attention grabbing sandals off to the max I’ve teamed them with this bardot denim dress which is a touch too short for everyday pick-a-toddler-up wear but a dream for hotter climes, hello bikini cover up.
Which three pairs of shoes will you have in your wardrobe this Summer? What do you make of my new season buys?
